Antelope Valley Job Fairs in October: AVC Career Fair and Palmdale's Holiday Hiring Spree

LANCASTER, CA — Two Antelope Valley job fairs are on the October calendar, two weeks apart and a short drive apart on the 14. Antelope Valley College opens its Career Fair to students, alumni and the wider community on Thursday, October 15, and the LA County Office of Education brings its Holiday Hiring Spree to Palmdale on Thursday, October 29. If you live north of the Sierra Pelona and you are tired of driving into the basin to meet employers, this month the employers are coming to you.

Two in-person hiring events, both on Thursdays, one in Lancaster and one in Palmdale. Here is what each one is for and how to get in the door.

AVC Career Fair: Thursday, October 15

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. | AVC Cafeteria, 3041 West Ave. K, Lancaster

Antelope Valley College splits this year's fair into two sessions, and the split matters. The morning block is for technical, trades and public safety careers. The afternoon block covers business, healthcare, education and community work. Pick your session, because the employers change at lunch.

It is also a good place to ask employers what their entry jobs actually require. In a valley where aerospace work at Plant 42 and Edwards sits next to hospital, school and county jobs, that is useful homework.

Register before you go. The college requires students to register in advance through Handshake. Its announcement does not spell out whether community members need to sign up or whether there is any cost, so call AVC at 661-722-6300 before you drive over. Details are on the college's event announcement.

Live in the San Fernando Valley instead? A different fair runs the same day there. See the October 15 entry in our fall Los Angeles job fairs guide. Different valley, different organizer, different format.

Holiday Hiring Spree in Palmdale: Thursday, October 29

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | 1050 E. Palmdale Blvd., Suite 207B, Palmdale

This is the fourth annual holiday edition of Hiring Spree LA, run by the LA County Office of Education's GAIN Division. The program's pitch is simple: employers are screened before they get a table, so the people you talk to are actively hiring rather than collecting resumes for a file. Resume help happens on the spot, interview clothing is available on site, and the event is free for job seekers.

The organizer had not posted an employer list as of publication, so we are not guessing at one. The timing tells you the likely shape, though: late October is when stores and warehouses lock in holiday crews. Register through the Hiring Spree LA page, which also carries English and Spanish flyers, and follow @hiringspreela on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
